What's a Tithe?

The Bible calls followers of Jesus to tithe (Leviticus 27:30Malachi 3:10Numbers 18:26-29). The word tithe means ‘tenth’, giving 10% of your income. Giving God our first and our best through the tithe is a way to honor Him – a way to give thanks for all He’s given us.

What's an Offering?

Offerings are what you give over and above your tithe. For example, if you give money to help buy food for the food bank or to support another ministry, mission, or cause, this would be an offering.

Why Give?

Jesus came to build and extend his kingdom through local church communities, which means nothing else has better potential to change the world. By giving to SHV, you’re saying “I want to be a part of something bigger!”

  • Mission: SHV exists to equip people to authentically follow Jesus. Jesus gives life – that means transformation of individuals, families, and communities. Your tithes and offerings enable this to happen through SHV’s ministry.

  • Service: SHV has been serving Aurora, Centennial and Denver for almost 30 years. Our dedicated staff leads several hundred volunteers to meet the needs of the church and our larger community.
